The Producer
The Vauthier tamily has been growing vines and making wines in Saint-Emilion since 1690, when they purchased the world-tamous Chateau Ausone, which remains in the family to this day. Pauline Vauthier, winemaker and vineyard manager, represents the 11th generation. She and her team give the same attention to Chateau Simard as they do to Ausone. The standards of quality are pretty simple: quality first, no compromise.

Tasting Notes
It has the amazing ruby robe of the greatest Saint-Emilion Grand Crus. The bouquet of kirsh, black fruits and cedar is quite captivating. Perfect balance with subtle acidity and ripe tannins.

Pairings
A fine choice for meatball, cold cuts, Bolognese, and pizzas. Grilled skirt steak is also highly recommended.
